Long-term Partnership: Kempa extends with the Bunkerladies and team sports partner Sport Hartl
Regensburg/Balingen, May 6th – ESV 1927 Regensburg and its Bundesliga handball players, the “Bunkerladies,” are focusing on continuity: the successful cooperation with outfitter Kempa and team sports partner Sport Hartl is being extended.
This ensures that Bavaria’s only female Bundesliga team will continue to be equipped by Kempa in the coming years — both in match play and training.
ESV 1927 Regensburg is currently playing its fifth season in the 2nd Alsco Handball Bundesliga Women – and has worn Kempa jerseys from the very beginning. The cooperation with Sport Hartl goes back even further, having started over two decades ago and now being carried forward by the second generation: Christian Hartl took over the sports retail business in 2015. The partnership is also supported by personal connections: ESV captain Franziska Peter has been a testimonial in the Kempa catalog for many years, symbolizing the long-standing collaboration.
ESV Department Head Dieter Müller emphasizes the mutual fit: “In Kempa and Sport Hartl, we have long-standing partners who are an excellent match for us. We are a family-oriented club, and Uhlsport and Sport Hartl are family-owned companies with long traditions of their own.”
The extension is also a clear signal from a sporting perspective. Robert Torunsky, Sporting Director, says: “We, and especially our fans, have been enthusiastic about the quality and design of our jerseys with the ‘Bunker’ look for years. Therefore, it was our declared wish to continue the cooperation long-term. The cooperation with our team sports partner Sport Hartl is also exemplary.”
Sustainability as a shared commitment
The sustainability strategy of uhlsport and Kempa (“For the Planet“) harmonizes with the philosophy of the ESV: players and staff are equipped from head to toe with corresponding textiles and shoes. One example is the Kempa CREATOR jerseys: each Bunkerladies jersey is made from 15 PET bottles. The fabric used has been certified by the fabric producer via Intertek and complies with the Global Recycled Standard (GRS).
Alexander Ray, Regional Sales Manager DACH at uhlsport GmbH, adds: “The Bunkerladies stand for passion, a strong identity, and growing influence in German women’s handball—making them a true flagship for handball in Bavaria. It is exactly this combination of regional roots and sporting ambition that fits Kempa perfectly. We are pleased to continue the partnership long-term — with a clear commitment to performance, design, and sustainable solutions that will move the club forward in Bavaria and beyond, both on and off the court.”
Christian Hartl, owner of Sport Hartl, says: “The collaboration with ESV 1927 Regensburg is special to us because it is characterized by trust, short communication channels, and genuine proximity to the club. Together with Kempa, we have been able to offer the Bunkerladies a professional overall package for years — from equipment to reliable day-to-day support. We are all the more pleased to continue this partnership for the long term.”
The extension underlines the mutual desire to sustainably strengthen women’s handball in Regensburg — sportingly, organizationally, and in terms of public image.
