Kempa celebrates one of the greatest sporting successes in the brand’s history

Balingen, 7 June 2026 – Metz Handball win the Women’s Handball Champions League – the first French women’s team ever to do so. For Kempa as the team’s equipment partner, it is one of the most significant sporting moments in the brand’s history.

On Sunday evening, Metz Handball made sporting history in the sold-out MVM Dome in Budapest: in the women’s last-four final, the team beat defending champions Györi Audi ETO KC 31-29 (18-17 at half-time) to become, as the first French women’s team ever, winners of the most coveted trophy in European club handball.
It is a triumph with a special story: Metz had reached the last four four times before, failing in the semi-final on each occasion. On their fifth attempt, the team coached by Emmanuel Mayonnade finally made the breakthrough.
For Kempa as the team’s equipment partner, this victory marks one of the greatest sporting successes in the brand’s history. It is a symbol of the ambition Kempa has always pursued: to develop equipment that holds up even under the greatest pressure and on handball’s biggest stage.

“We congratulate the entire team on this outstanding success. A triumph like this is the result of hard work, passion and team spirit – values that Kempa stands for too. We are proud to be part of this story and look forward to everything still to come.” — Melanie Steinhilber, Managing Director of uhlsport GmbH

With this success behind it, Kempa is already looking ahead to the highlights of the coming handball season.
